High intake of oily fish may reduce the risk of dementia by about 20 per cent.
Researcher gathered diet data form 14,960 people in seven countries and found that the more fish consumed, the
lower the risk of dementia. This data supports earlier results from two studies published in the American Journal
of Clinical Nutrition in April 2007.
Researchers also found meat consumption increased dementia risk.

Research is continuing to support omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid consumption reduces inflammation chemicals and
the risk of dementia, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
Red meat increases inflammation chemicals and increase the risk of dementia, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
Increased fish intake may also increase your risk of Mercury Toxicity. If you test high in mercury you should click
here for a list of mercury levels in fish.
Fish oil capsules were not used in this study. I don’t rely on my fish consumption to reduce my risk of dementia
and Alzheimer’s disease. I take pharmaceutical grade, purified (mercury and pcb free) fish oil
capsules.
