Scientists recommend the establishment of a Dietary Reference Intake for Omega 3 EPA and DHA to reduce the
risk of heart disease.
Scientists reviewed more than 15 studies and found modest intake of omega 3 eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and
docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) reduced the risk of coronary heart disease. They recommend a Dietary Reference
Intake (DRI) for EPA and DHA between 250 and 400mg/day.
The scientists also found that omega 3 EPA and DHA had promising
effects on dementia and cancer.
