D3 and Curcumin Removes Alzheimer’s Plaque
Keith D. Bishop, Clinical Nutritionist, B.Sc. Pharmacy - August 15, 2009
A combination of non-prescription vitamin D3 and the spice curcumin boosts the immune system and help it clear
the beta-amyloid plaque linked to Alzheimer’s disease.
White blood cell macrophages remove Alzheimer’s plaque from the body. Researchers found curcumin enhance binding of
beta-amyloid plaque to macrophages.
Vitamin D3 strongly stimulates the uptake and absorption of beta-amyloid in macrophages. In
some people the combination of curcumin and vitamin D3 enhance the effectiveness of the natural treatment.
Most curcumin products are not well absorbed and have minimal effect on Alzheimer’s plaque. The nutrient
combination in the non-prescription DIM-3 increase blood levels of curcumin by up to 2000% percent. DIM-3 should be
used with caution as it may increase blood levels of other nutrients and a few medications.
A growing number of studies have linked a deficiency of vitamin D to increased risks of cardiovascular diseases,
diabetes, osteoporosis, depression, and periodontal disease, all of which have been linked to some degree to
increased risks for dementia.
This combination of DIM-3 and vitamin D3 has helped improve or maintain the memory of several of our clients. Call
